Your workplace supervisor must validate this digital document and photographic evidence must be submitted to support the report.

Specialist Prerequisites & Entry Requirements

Specialist Certification Pathway

For experienced pest technicians ready to advance to timber pest specialisation

Recommended Background: Licensed pest control technician with 6+ months field experience

While not mandatory, having general pest management experience will significantly enhance your learning outcomes and practical assessment performance.

  • General Pest Management Foundation: You must hold a General Pest Licence OR have completed a General Pest Management Course. This ensures you understand pesticide safety data sheets (SDS), chemical labels, pest control vehicle operations, and safe pesticide handling practices.
  • Current Employment Requirement: You must be currently employed by a licensed pest control business with active timber pest inspection and treatment services. Access to real termite sites, specialised equipment, and treatment scenarios is essential for practical assessments.
  • Qualified Timber Pest Supervisor: Your employer must provide a supervisor who holds timber pest licence/certification. This supervisor will validate your inspection reports, treatment plans, and practical competencies.
  • Meet State Licence Prerequisites: Complete our Prerequisite Check and Declaration to confirm you meet your state's specific timber pest licence requirements.

New to Pest Management?

Timber pest management is a specialised field requiring foundation knowledge in general pest control. If you don't have general pest experience, you'll need to:
